Frequently Asked Questions
Click the GO2048 icon (⚡) in your Chrome toolbar. If you don't see it, click the puzzle-piece icon and pin GO2048. The game opens in Chrome's side panel on the right side of your browser.
Use your arrow keys to slide all tiles in one direction. When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one tile with double the value. Your goal is to create a tile with the number 2048. The game ends when the board is full and no more moves are possible. You can keep playing after reaching 2048 for a higher score.
Yes! Press U on your keyboard or click the ↩ undo button in the game. You can undo your last move at any time, including after a game-over screen appears.
Click the ⚙️ Settings button in the top-right corner of the game. From there you can switch between 4×4, 5×5, and 6×6 grids and choose from 5 visual themes: Classic, Dark, Ocean, Forest, and Candy. Changes take effect immediately.
Game data is stored in chrome.storage.local, which is tied to your Chrome profile. Check that you're signed in to the same Chrome profile. If you cleared your browser data recently, that would also clear extension storage. Unfortunately cleared data cannot be recovered.
Open ⚙️ Settings and scroll to the bottom. Click "Reset All Stats". This permanently deletes all saved statistics, achievements, and best scores. Your current game settings (theme, grid size) are not affected.
We collect only anonymous gameplay data (score, top tile, session ID) during an optional score sync. No account is required and no personal information is stored. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
This can happen if Chrome's side panel was previously closed with a keyboard shortcut. Try right-clicking the GO2048 icon in your toolbar and selecting "Open side panel". If that doesn't work, navigate to a regular webpage (not a chrome:// or pdf page, which block side panels) and try again.
